Ten Reasons NOT to Use Pesticides
Did you know that 300 million pounds of cancer-causing pesticides are used in the U.S. each year? Or that more than half of common fruit and vegetables are contaminated with one or more pesticides?
At CEH, we work for alternatives to pesticides used on our food, farms, schools and homes. Our Research Director Caroline Cox serves as a public interest representative to the U.S. EPA’s Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee, and on the Board of Directors of the national non-profit, Beyond Pesticides. Her “Ten Reasons Not to Use Pesticides” outlines the avoidable risks we all face from pesticides ion our air, food and water, and the special risks posed to vulnerable groups, including farmers and farm workers, children and pets.
