Anti-Asian Hate Crimes

Over the past year, anti-Asian hate crimes have surged nationwide. We at the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) unequivocally support our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) brothers and sisters in these very difficult times.

We must focus on the many important lessons of 2020. A historic year in which the Black Lives Matter movement took to the streets during a global pandemic to demand justice and equality after the murder of George Floyd. Now the AAPI community is suffering in the hands of ignorant and hateful individuals and it seems to only be getting worse.

Turning a blind eye to violence and hate is complicity. We all have a responsibility to stand against racism and xenophobia.

Supporting justice and opposing hate is up to all of us, collectively and as individuals. Taking action is an integral part of achieving justice.

Here are some ways you can help:

Additionally, social media users can take action by uplifting and amplifying voices from the AAPI community using #StopAsianHate and #StopAAPIHate.

Internally at CEH, we continue to work with experts to help us more deeply institutionalize our justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into the way we work and live. We at CEH will continue to recognize these injustices and live by our promise to create a healthier environment for all.
