CEH’s New Logo — What Does It All Mean?
Today, the Center for Environmental Health unveiled a new logo design and color palette that reaffirms the organization’s commitment for a safer, healthier future.
Our new design has been almost a year in the making, and a tremendous amount of strategic thought and artistic creativity went into the new visual representation of our identity as an organization. Here is a bit of information about how we honored our past while looking toward our future to arrive at our new logo and colors.
The Logo
Building off our rich, nearly 30-year history, we sought to design a logo that honors CEH’s longstanding work to protect people and the environment from toxic chemicals and look ahead toward our future of creating transformative change in the world. The butterfly incorporates the prior CEH “starburst” logo (used until 2018) within its wings, signaling evolution for the organization. This starburst, also referred to as our original “orange fire” logo, represents the idea that CEH makes small things big. It is a spark that incites and inspires outward-facing change from within.
The butterfly represents transformational change, as well as the vulnerability and interconnectedness of pollinators, our environment, and our planetary health. These two pieces of imagery and ideals combine to form our new logo, signifying our commitment to serving as an active and transformational changemaker.
The Colors
CEH’s new colors are “Ocean Blue,” “Seafoam Green,” and “Marigold.” An update to our previous scheme, the new palette features darker, bolder, richer colors that are often found in nature. These colors represent our deep commitment to protecting the environment and acting as good stewards to our planet. The gradient from “Seafoam Green” to “Marigold” in the butterfly’s wings further symbolizes the transformational change the organization fights for.
