Victory + Next Steps: The Safe Chemicals Act Passes Committee

For the first time in over 30 years, Congress voted to update our outdated chemical safety laws.  In response to the growing number of parents, cancer survivors, doctors, nurses and concerned citizens who have become increasingly aware of the dangers of the toxic chemicals in our everyday products, the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee voted on Senator Frank Lautenberg’s Safe Chemicals Act.

Thanks to hundreds of CEH supporters, the EPW Committee has heard our message loud and clear: We’re tired of being exposed to toxic chemicals in our everyday products.  We want a strong chemical safety law that protect health of our families.

Now that the Safe Chemicals Act has passed out of the committee, it will move on to the Senate floor.  We still have a long way to go, but this is the first step in the right direction.  In the coming months, we need to stay vigilant and continue to put pressure on our Senators to let them know–NOW is the time to pass the Safe Chemicals Act!
