CEH Statement on Confirmation of Michael Regan for EPA
The Center for Environmental Health (CEH) Congratulates Michael Regan on his Confirmation as Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
We congratulate Michael Regan on his confirmation as EPA Administrator. CEH believes that Regan is the right person to repair the damage done to EPA by the Trump administration, including restoring science and the rule of law. As the head of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Regan made strides in restoring the morale of the agency and fighting for adequate funding to rebuild DEQ after years of neglect and underfunding, addressing environmental justice, cleaning up toxic coal ash, and using the State’s regulatory authority to address widespread contamination of the Cape Fear River basin by Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). In his confirmation hearing, Regan affirmed that advancing environmental justice and combating PFAS pollution, especially in frontline communities, will be among his highest priorities at EPA. These are also critical goals of the Biden Administration. CEH looks forward to working with Michael Regan and the Biden administration to protect the health of all Americans.
